This year marks the 10th anniversary of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (sponsored by the National Cyber Security Awareness Alliance). In association with National Cyber Security Awareness Month, throughout October the TTU Office of the CIO will provide information aimed at empowering you with knowledge to combat Internet criminals.
The Office of the CIO has developed the Safe Computing Practices Campaign to raise awareness, promote education, and empower people with the knowledge and tools to combat Internet-based security threats.
On the Safe Computing website at www.safecomputing.ttu.edu, you can find tips and information on a variety of cybersecurity topics such as identity theft, secured access, protecting your mobile devices and social networking, among others.
Did you know that downloading e-books could pose a threat to your cybersecurity? Online shoppers downloading e-books are getting tricked into purchasing e-books that have similar sounding names to familiar bestsellers. Some retailers that sell e-books are becoming aware of copycat books and are working to remove them from their catalogs. Find e-book purchasing tips and much more on the Safe Computing website.
The website also provides links to Lubbock area resources as well as TTU community resources.
The National Cyber Security Awareness Alliance also provides tips at www.StaySafeOnline.org.
